I’ve just returned from a week’s painting trip [with 10 other intrepid artists] to Charlevoix, Quebec. Charlevoix is the area on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River about one and a half hours north of Quebec City.
The charm of this area has captured Canadian artists for 150 years. A meteor, which impacted this landscape one million years ago, created breathtaking rolling hills and fertile farms and forests. The architecture, both on land and river, is wonky, warm and wonderful.
Here are four motifs that stimulated me during the week.
