Heading into Fall; but first pride!

On March 31 of this year, I decided to enter a rather prestigious American art competition sponsored by ‘The Artist’s Magazine’, a widely circulated and respected US publication.

One of the pictures I entered was “Barton”, below.

Last week I received the following notification!

“Dear Bill,

Congratulations! Your artwork, Barton, has been selected as a finalist in the Landscape category of The Artist’s Magazine 31st Annual Art Competition. Your name, city, state and/or country will appear among the lists of finalists published in the December 2014 issue.

The competition’s entries, over 7,500, were particularly strong this year. As editors, we had a difficult task to whittle the field; it is truly an achievement that your work was among the ones we sent to the jurors.

Thank you very much for entering our contest and sharing your fine work with us.

Congratulations again!

Sincerely,

Maureen Bloomfield, Editor”

The Way I See It

I’ve just come back from my 10th painting trip to Grand Manan [an island 1.5 hours (by ferry – when its running!) in the Bay of Fundy.]
This peaceful and rather secluded island has the ‘aging’ architecture which appeals to me.
You can see me [!] and some of my very recent work on Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the VILLAGE STUDIOS in Stratford, Ontario.  My show, called “The Way I See It “, starts on Saturday, July 26, 2014, and runs until August 9, 2014.  Just Google VILLAGE STUDIOS for the way to get to Martha’s lovely downtown Stratford location.
Below is a glimpse of what you may see!

Painting the 99%

On Friday I returned from a week long trip along the Mohawk Valley painting what the 1% built, and where the 99% worked, in the early 1900’s.
It was fascinating to see what effect the “Walmartization” of North America had on this vibrant, hard working, lush and productive era ….. which ended about 30 years ago.
Seeing is believing!
Following is some of my recent work which reflects this lost era.CP-12305-14-042 18x18 $750 CP-12305-14-037 18x18 $750 CP-12305-14-039 16x16 $750 CP-12305-14-040 16x16 $750
